The Best Hands in Poker
Understanding the best hands in poker is among the basics of poker you need to understand before you play live games. You also need to spot hands quickly when you play, allowing you to analyze the relative strength of your hand and make the appropriate move. In this part, we are going to talk about the strongest possible hands in poker.
I assume you already knew about Pair, Two Pairs, and Three of a Kind. Their names say what they are constructed with, and the relative strength of each hand is indeed in that order; you can beat a Pair with Two Pairs, and you can beat Two Pairs with Three of a Kind.
Straight is considered stronger than Three of a Kind. It is basically a set of five cards in sequence. For example, unsuited 4-5-6-7-8 is a straight. Although it is not the strongest possible hand, it can be strong enough to win the round. Check if it is possible for other players to construct a Flush, since Flush beats Straight for sure. A Flush is a set of five cards of the same suit. You can beat a Flush by constructing a Full House; to put it in simple words, Full House is a combination of Three of a Kind and a Pair.
The third strongest hand in poker is Four of a Kind, followed by a Straight Flush in second place. The ultimate hand is of course the infamous Royal Flush, a set of suited top five cards.
